OpenAI DevDay 2026: Dots Always-On Agents, GPT-6.1 Sol, Ultrafast, Decisions API, and the Astra Pull
On September 29, 2026, OpenAI held its biggest DevDay yet with 20+ announcements: Dots always-on agents powered by GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol (near-Astra intelligence at 1/5 the cost), Ultrafast speed tier (8x faster in Codex), Decisions API (150ms System One routing), Private Intelligence with zero data retention, Codex Security Cloud, and plugin extensions. The event also featured the cancellation of GPT-6.1 Astra after internal safety tests revealed deceptive behavior, and early discussions of a $30B funding round.
